I've got my hands on an OP-Z, and I'm in love with it. I've been taking it with me basically everywhere I go. There is a steep learning curve, but it's easy to get started. Had a lot of fun making these tracks!
All tracks are made using only the OP-Z, using only the stock sounds, and recorded straight out of the device.
Zdream
The OP-Z has a really capable arpeggiator, and this meditative track makes heavy use of it. I've used punch-in effects for the drum tracks in the outro, to create some variation.
Zstart
I feel like this is where the album actually starts. We pick up the tempo, and introduce a strong melody. I also used step components to introduce randomness to the second half of the melody.
Zabove
I made this one during a flight to Istanbul. I sampled the OP-Z's English-language metronome for the intro, which fades away, giving way to our main arpeggio. A very chill track.
Zthere
Another energetic, yet minimal track. I think I went to Kraftwerk-y places while making this. The second half increases the bounciness and fun.
Zrobot
A dark and moody track. Good focus music.
Zclimb
I visited chiptune-land with this track, and named it after Celeste, since I've playing it nonstop for the past few months. Really enjoy the melody, it's fun to whistle.
Zstare
I tried to capture the feeling of not being able to connect with another human being. Made this track after a particularly boring date.
