I've been listening to a lot of synthwave recently. Also, I haven't been having the best time lately, which led me to spend a lot of time at my local coffee shop; because I simply can't be at home.
I brought my OP-1 with me on a couple of occasions, and made some tracks. Here they are.
Start, Restart, Restart Again
The opening arpeggio stays with me long after I listen to this track. And the little solo at the end has just the right amount of angst.
Follow Me
In a sense, I wrote this track for Case Deflection, matching their energy level. Would be cool to cover it with them someday.
It Was
A reflection on better times, and trying to come to terms with them being in the past. The 2nd verse really hits it home for me. And the outro just keeps on getting more intense, without going anywhere. Very representative of my mood at the time.
It Won't
One day, I realized that I fucked up, and no amount of effort would unfuck the situation. This track is about acceptance, and forgiving oneself. And it has a really sweet outro.
The end
After the dust settles on the train wreck I'm going through, there's nothing to do but to mourn, pick up the pieces and move on. I feel like this track captures the just-outside-of-normal weirdness of moving on. I think the switches between major-lydian contributes a lot to the feeling.
